This was ok and probaly great if you are a first time visitor but i was looking for more off the beaten path stuff and did not find myself using this book at all while on my trip.
I live there and there is alot of wrong information in book. Book would be fine for first time tourist.
It is a good book. We liked it. It has good maps of the area but is missing a good large scale map.

Just visited The Outer Banks. Book has good maps but many of the reference phone numbers are wrong.
This book is fantastic! It gives a very detailed description about everything you'd need for a wonderful trip to the Outer Banks.I especially like the way it's laid out, with each section going "north to south". For example, the restaurants section starts at the north end of the islands and works its way down to the very south. Same with accommodations, etc.It also definitely gives you a "feel" for the place - telling the type of vibe each community has and what the general demographics are.Highly recommended!
I had been to the outer banks once about 10 years ago and decided to go again last year. I bought the insiders guide and read through it before I went down there, that is a must, it gives excellent info on places and steared me from many touristy places, read the reviews in it short reviews of a place typically meant touristy, longer thoughtful reviews meant a place worth going to. It was typically right on with prices. i honestly wouldn't go there without it and am bringing it again in 4 weeks when i am going back. Love the outerbanks and this perfect companion to it. Remember read through it before you go though.
Went to the Outer Banks recently, and bought this book and took it with us. The book turned out to be indispensable for our three-family vacation...from fishing to creating stain-glass mosaics, this guide has a description of it all!Highly recommended!
